PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a fuel battery formed from a heating pressure molding containing a graphite powder and a binder, requiring a less content of binder without lowering breakage resistance and bulk density to permit sufficient development of the performance such as conductivity of the separator, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The separator for the fuel battery is formed from the heating pressure molding containing the graphite powder and the binder to satisfy a relationship of the following expression under deflection such that a bending stress-deflection curve measured based on JIS K7171 shows the maximum bending stress: E1/E1/2<=0.75 (I), where E1=(σ1-σ1/2)/ε1-ε1/2), E1/2=(σ1/2-σ0)/(ε1/2-ε0). The method of producing the separator for the fuel battery by mixing graphite powder and the binder followed by pressure molding under heating comprises using rubbers as the binder. |
