The optical data medium has a light reflecting structure, which is scanned with laser light. The data is stored in tracks on the light reflecting structure. Instructions are stored that trigger certain steps when a reader reads the instructions. Data are read with the error correction turned off, and stored in a memory. Data are then read from a copy protection block with the error correction turned on, and stored; the stored data are compared. An Independent claim is included for a method of manufacturing the data recording medium.
