PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a network management system and to reduce information, at the same time, to be transferred to a network as signaling so as to easily find out required information associated with an alarm, for example. SOLUTION: In data transmission from a network element to a network management system, a response to be transmitted to the network management system is provided (306, 308) with at least one pointer indicating the location where to find additional information, before the response is transmitted. When requested by the operator, the network management system opens the additional information from the location indicated by the pointer.
