<p>A circuit for starting and ballasting a load which has high starting impedance and low operating impedance provides a high voltage, high impedance output for starting, and means responsive to the load impedance causes the output to become relatively lower voltage, low impedance, to match the load. Transistor 42 and transformer 46, 48 form a blocking oscillator for operating lamps 52. Capacitor 62, which may also be a coil or resistor provides a high voltage, high impedance path for starting the lamps. Once started, the lamps provide a low impedance load on 62, and operating voltage is derived from secondaries 50, 54, 56 at a low impedance. <IMAGE></p> |
