In a powersport training apparatus, in which a liftable load is connected via a cable, guided over deflection rollers, to a grip which is to be grasped by the person training, a sliding piece is provided which is guided, displaceable and lockable, on a guide, and on which the two ends of the cable are mounted, the load being connected to a freely rotatable deflection roller for the cable which is arranged in a cable loop between the two cable ends. The sliding piece is advantageously arranged to be vertically adjustable on a vertical bar, and the bar supporting the sliding piece has locking devices arranged at intervals which interact with corresponding complementary locking devices on the sliding piece. Each cable end is secured on the circumference of an assigned, freely rotatable cable drum, and the cable drums are arranged side by side, with spacing, on a common axle, the axle being retained in a mounting fixedly connected to the sliding piece.
