An air-bag 1 has a gas inlet 2 to receive gas from a gas generator. One or more straps 4 pass from a point 5 on the bag spaced from the gas inlet to a fixed point. Means are provided to release the strap(s) 4 in response to a predetermined signal from a sensor. Said means may comprise a withdrawable bolt (47, figs 9 and 10), a strap (68, fig 11) which may be broken by a pyrotechnic charge, or a strap (85, fig 12) which may be burned through by another pyrotechnic charge. However the straps are released, they fly out to position 4A, resulting in an increase h in the depth of the inflated bag. |
