The electrical safety cut-out switch for a vehicle comprises the electrically conductive sleeve (3) attached to a clamp terminal (1). An electrically conducting shaft (5) is mounted to slide within the sleeve, and this has the electrical supply cable (7) fastened to its remote end (6). A reduced diameter portion of the shaft is covered by an electrically insulating band (21), such that the outer dimension of this band is the same size as the remainder of the shaft. When the shaft is pulled axially, the insulated section of the shaft slides into the position where contact was previously established between the conductive sleeve and shaft, so that the electrical connection is interrupted. The circuit is closed again by pushing the shaft back again.
