PURPOSE:To realize thinning of a line without influenced by the imperfection of an input device or the local fluctuation of an outline part of a line generated by the conversion from a multilevel picture into a binary picture by thinning a line with the use of broad information of the width of a line. CONSTITUTION:A picture processor 2 is composed of an area division part 12 dividing an object picture for thinning line into several areas, a filter processing part 13 performing the convolution calculation between a divided picture and a Gaussian filter, a ridge point calculation part 14 obtaining the ridge point from the filter-processed picture, a ridge point connection part 15 linking an obtained ridge point, an area connected part 16 connecting thinning lines between divided areas. Then, the thinning of the line without influenced by the noise of an outline part can be realized. |
