PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-functional mirror by improving light utilization efficiency of an organic thin film electroluminescent element, and applying a light emitting function. SOLUTION: An ITO(indium tin oxide) electrode 2, a hole transport layer 3a forming part of an organic compound layer 3, an electron transporting light emitting layer 3b forming part of the organic compound layer 3, and a metal electrode layer 4 as a back plate are respectively formed on a surface glass plate 1 by vacuum deposition. These are held by the surface glass plate 1 and a back glass plate 5. As the metal electrode layer 4, an Mg-Ag alloy layer 4a of a volume ratio of 10:1 with a thickness of 1,000Åis formed on the hole transport layer 3a. An Ag layer 4b having a high reflectance in the whole range of visible light with a thickness of 3,000Åor more is then formed on it by vacuum deposition or the like.
