At the time of starting the Stirling engine, the engine is started by the temperature sensitive element 2 for detecting the wall temperature, and after the start, the pressure control device 7 is operated by the temperature of the temperature sensitive element 2 for detecting the wall temperature of the regenerator housing 5 so as to control the output. With this structure, temperature control from a start to the steady-state operation of the Stirling engine is enabled in the corrosive environment such as the exhaust gas.
