PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically adjust the display position of an image displayed on a dot matrix type image display device and to reduce the current consumption and cost. SOLUTION: The image display device equipped with an image display part driving means 2 which converts an input image signal into a display image signal to be suitably displayed on a dot matrix type image display unit 3 and generates a driving timing signal for driving the image display unit 3 is provided with a display position detecting means 6 which detects the display position of an image on the image display unit 3 according to a display image signal and a driving timing signal outputted by the image display part driving means 2 and a display position control means which controls the input of an input image signal to the image display part driving means 2 using the display position detection result of the display position detecting means 6.
