<p>A device for determining the roughness caused by fibres protecting from the surface of a yarn adjusts the proximity of the sensing organ to the yarn by means of a micrometric screw or an eccentric disc, or some other mechanism. For the various gauges of yarn, the sensing organ (2) is adjustable at the necessary distance from the diameter of the yarn sample, and the number of fibres projecting through the distance set, is ascertained. The yarn may run over a fixed solid surface which can be displaced to and from the sensing organ, or its line of motion may be located between two opposing and mutually adjustable sensing organs. A special form for the sensing organ copes with the resonances set up and the degree of roughness of a yarn can be compared with that of others.</p> |
