<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the unauthorized use of a magnetic card by providing a data collating means and collating read recognition data of the magnetic card read at the time of data reading with the recognition data stored in a RAM. CONSTITUTION:A keyboard 2 is provided with a read key 20 and write key 21 and the mode of a magnetic head in a card scanning section 3 is set by operating the keys 20 and 21. At the time of the mode setting, the operator causes a magnetic card to be scanned along the groove 8 of the scanning section 3. Then the magnetic head reads or writes the recognition data and transaction data stored on the magnetic card in accordance with the set mode. In the case of the reading mode, the magnetic head reads the recognition data and transaction data and respectively stores in prescribed areas of a RAM. In the case of the writing mode, the magnetic head is set to the writing state and the transaction data are updated when collated result of the recognition data of the magnetic card with the recognition data stored in the RAM is proper. Since no data are updated if the scanning is not performed along the groove 8, unauthorized used of the magnetic card can be prevented.</p> |
