PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for alternately displaying the two different data entry views of an electronic mail object. CONSTITUTION: A first data entry view 116 graphically displays the visible metaphor of at least one note sheet 120 partially overlapped over an envelope 122 with a slightly visible envelope part on a display device. A second data entry view graphically displays the visible metaphor of the envelope partially overlapped over at least one note sheet with the slightly visible note sheet part on the display device. In both views, the note sheet 120 or the envelope displayed so as to be overlapped are in activated states for the entry of a message text, that is, destination information, and simultaneously partially displayed envelope 122 or note sheet are in inactivated states for the data entry.
