PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high speed reproduction audio signal by recording an audio packet as distinguished from a video packet onto other tracks and by selectively reproducing the tracks at an interval on which audio packet is recorded in the case of high speed reproduction. SOLUTION: An MPEG(moving picture image coding expert group) system decoder 1 identifies whether a packet is an audio packet or a video packet or other system packet among information in a header of a received packet, the video packet and the system packet are fed to a video system buffer 4 depending on the type of the packets and the audio packet and the system packet are fed to a audio system buffer 5. A control circuit 3 controls the write and read of the video system buffer 4, the audio system buffer 5 based on received packet type detection information and arranges and records all the audio packets at specific continuous positions of one track at a predetermined track interval and arranges and records the video packets on the other tracks.
