PURPOSE: To provide a sound output device having a new structure, capable of finely adjusting a side pressure mechanism, so that the device becomes suitable for an individual user. CONSTITUTION: The device has a support leg section 21 serving as fine adjusting members for finely adjusting the side pressure mechanism on both ends of a frame 11, serving as a side pressure mechanism, and pads 23 are attached on respective sections 21. The pads 23 abut on the head of a user, when the user wears a headphone (sound output device). Earphone-attaching sections 13 are provided on substantially both the ends of the frame 11, an earphone arm 17 is rotatively attached on each section 13. An earphone section (sound output section) 19 is provided on the end of each earphone arm 17. If the user temporarily desires to listen to an external sound, the user can release the ears from the earphones, by turning the earphone arms 17 with the sound output device on his head, while keeping the device worn on the head.
