PURPOSE:To collect accurate body surface contour data by collecting body surface contour data with distance sensors which measure the distance to the surface of a body to be examined from an annular part over all of the periphery on the extending face of a cross section of the body. CONSTITUTION:An annular base 7 is disposed in the front of a detector ring 3, and this base 7 is fixed to a cylindrical wall face part which forms the through-hole 2 of a gantry 1. Plural infrared sensors S as distance sensors are attached over all of the peripheral surface of the side face part on the front side of the base 7. Sensors S measure the distances to the surface of a body M which is inserted into the through-hole 2 over all of the peripheral surface. The body M is placed on a bed 9, and this bed is moved backward/ forward in the through-hole 2 and is supported on a base 15. Space distance data measured by sensors S is subjected to various processings by a data processing block.
