Disclosed is a radiation-curable resin based on a carbonyl-hydrogenated ketone-aldehyde or ring-hydrogenated phenol-aldehyde resin and a process for preparing the resin. The radiation-curable resin additionally contains a compound having an ethylenically unsaturated moiety and a moiety reactive with the ketone-aldehyde or phenol-aldehyde resin or has been reactive with such a compound. The radiation-curable resin is useful as a film-forming component of a coating material.
