<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mitigate the troublesomeness in the shift operation of a driver by automatically generating the braking force that the driver intends. <P>SOLUTION: An automobile memorizes beforehand the position where the driver has performed the same operation a specified number of times or more, as a braking requested position or a braking release position, and when an automatic shift signal SW is ON and besides a shift position SP is in the position D (step S102 and S116), this controls (step S118) the drive, automatically using the position B, when the present position has reached the braking requested position, and controls (step S124) the drive, automatically using the position D, when the present position has reached its braking release position in this automatically changed state. Hereby, this mitigates the troublesomeness in the shift operation of the driver.
