PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the multiple reflection image of a pressurizing plate superimposed on an ultrasonic diagnostic image, in a medical imaging apparatus and a medical imaging method for imaging mammary glands and breasts using radiation and ultrasonic waves in combination. SOLUTION: The medical imaging apparatus includes: the pressurizing plate having a first surface for pressurizing an object and a second surface opposite to the first surface; an ultrasonic probe for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves while moving along the second surface of the pressurizing plate; an image data generating means for generating image data representing a plurality of ultrasonic images when the pressurizing plate or the ultrasonic probe is at a plurality of different positions on the basis of reception signals output from the ultrasonic probe; a multiple reflection image extracting means for generating image data representing the multiple reflection image by extracting the multiple reflection image of the pressurizing plate on the basis of the image data representing at least one ultrasonic image; and a subtraction means for generating image data representing the image for which the multiple reflection image is subtracted from the image of the object including the multiple reflection image.
