PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a return activity assistance system for lending articles, providing assistance information on the return activity so that the lent article is returned to an original place in a short time. SOLUTION: A noncontact IC tag is disposed to a storage rack, and an IC tag reader has a means for transmitting an article identification ID to a management device when reading the article identification ID from the noncontact IC tag. The management device includes: an information database on article for rent associated with the article identification ID and rack identification ID; a return order information database; a means for extracting the rack identifications ID associated with the received article identification ID based on the information database on article for rent; a means for creating return order information for provision, by reordering the extracted rack identifications ID based on return order information in the return order information database; and a means for transmitting the return order information for provision to a communication terminal.
