PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle drive unit 1 which: comprises a first space 20 where a gear 3g is arranged in a manner that rotates around a horizontal shaft, a second space 30 which is positioned next to the first space 20 in a direction of a rotating shaft of the gear 3g and separated from the first space 20 through a bulkhead 5a, and communication passages 11 and 12 which are installed on the bulkhead 5a to communicate the first space 20 with the second space 30 for adjusting an oil level; and can prevent or avoid an occurrence of a phenomenon of an excessively low oil level in the second space 30 in association with an excessively high oil level in the first space 20 due to inflow of oil in the second space 30 into the first space 20 through the communication passages 11 and 12.SOLUTION: A vehicle drive unit 1 has a regulating wall section 13 which: is arranged opposite to a bulkhead 5a with a predetermined distance therefrom at a side of a first space 20 closer to communication passages 11 and 12 than a gear 3g; and regulates an inflow of oil from the communication passages 11 and 12 into the first space 20. |
