PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle discharge lamp lighting device reduced in size and thickness, so that an inverter part can be easily set, even at a place having a small setting space for a headlamp itself as in a compact car. SOLUTION: This device comprises a lamp body 1, having a maintenance cap 5 mounted on a maintenance opening; a horn-shaped reflector 2; an HID lamp 3; a socket with igniter 4 containing an igniter part, to which the base of the HID lamp 3 is connected to supply lighting power; an inverter part 6 for boosting a voltage inputted forma battery (not shown) via an input coupler 7, converting the boosted DC to AC, and supplying the AC to the HID lamp 3 through an output intermediate harness 10 and the socket with igniter 4; and a metal case 6a having a radiation face at least one side, in which the substrate of the inverter part 6 is housed so that the substrate reverse side is opposed to the radiation face. |
