PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change type optical disk, in which storage capacity is increased and which has excellent reliability. SOLUTION: The phase change type optical disk is constituted so that a recording layer 3 capable of recording information by reversibly changing reflectivity by the irradiation of at least laser beams, a reflecting layer 5 reflecting laser beams, and a protective film 6 protecting these recording layer 3 and reflecting layer 5 from the outside are formed onto a light-transmitting substrate. When an initialization region phase-changed from the state of low reflectivity to the state of high reflectivity by applying laser beams or heat energy to the recording layer 3 is formed, the initialization region is configured by forming a non-intialization region extending over the whole circumference of the inner circumferential side section and outer circumferential side section of the recording layer 3. |
