PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain warning and exact recording of a state just before an accident by sensing approach of a motorcycle or the like from the rear side of a vehicle. SOLUTION: CCD cameras 10R, 10L shoot the right and left rear sides of a vehicle. MPEG encoders 11R, 11L encode shot images and determine moving vectors for each block. Movement detecting processors 14R, 14L detect an object approaching from the right or left rear side of the vehicle based on the moving vector to make warning. A car recorder 18 records an encode data on a memory 19, and when an impact sensor 17 detects an impact applied to the vehicle the encode data is stored in the memory 19 just before the impact is applied.
