PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing method of a safe saddle stitched book, by which a reader does not hurt his or her finger tip during the reading of the book. SOLUTION: A saddle stitched book is manufactured though a printing process, in which a pasted-up signature S formed by pasting the back portions of respective pages together with paste, and a bookbinding process, in which a plurality of signatures are gathered under the condition that a paste is applied to the back portion of each pasted-up signature S with a pasting nozzle 31 and then pressed with a press roller 32 for binding with paste. By slightly changing the conventional printing and bookbinding processes for manufacturing a saddle stitched book, a saddle stitched book bound with paste can be manufactured. Since the manufactured saddle stitched book is one bound without employing wires, there is no fear for hurting the finger tip of a reader. Further, since respective pages are pasted together with paste either side of the fold at the back of a book, one side can be brought into a fully spread state.
