The device for the washing of beets and suchlike and/or for the separating of solids from liquids has a horizontal, rotatably mounted and preferably circular cylindrical drum filled with the beet and water mixture. A centrally installed limiting component (9) is provided inside the drum on the drum's inlet side and is rotationally symmetrical. The aforesaid limiting component is constructed as a truncated cone with a base (10) of larger diameter, and a cover (11) of smaller diameter, whereby preferably the cover of the truncated cone points towards the inside of the drum.
