PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reduction of installation space for a passenger conveyor device, and to improve safety for passengers or maintenance workers at the time of use or maintenance work by providing detectors detecting various abnormal operations in this passenger conveyor device. SOLUTION: This passenger conveyor device is provided with a plurality of footsteps 2a, footstep drive boards 2b provided in the footsteps 2a, and a plurality of footstep drive plates 1a-1d driving the footstep drive boards 2b. When one footstep drive plate 1a is moved and come off the footstep drive board 2b, whether other footstep drive plate 1b is engaged with the footstep drive board 2b or not is detected by a footstep drive plate position detector 11. A detection signal from the footstep drive plate position detector 11 is transmitted to a control mechanism 17, and then the operation of a drive device 6 is stopped by this control mechanism 17. Furthermore, the signal from the footstep drive plate position detector 11 is transmitted to an information mechanism 18, and abnormal conditions of the footstep drive plates 1a-1d are informed by this information mechanism 18.
