The method comprises a first step during which a plurality of elementary panels (14) of extruded polystyrene foam are stacked until they reach a determinate stacking height equal to said predetermined width (L) of the thermoinsulating panel (12) to be obtained. Subsequently, the elementary stacking panels (14) are fastened together to form a compact block (16).
