PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: a refresh mode is desired to be achieved with which excess and deficiency of the amount of removal of a deteriorated lubricant and the amount of supply of a lubricant to be applied can be corrected, and the amount of a lubricant applied onto an image carrier can be made optimal.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: image carriers; developing means; transfer means; a cleaning member that recovers a toner remaining on the image carriers after transfer; lubricant supply means that supplies a lubricant onto the image carriers; measuring means that measures a static friction force generated between the image carriers and the cleaning member; and control means that can execute correction processing of correcting the amount of a lubricant on the image carriers. The control means selectively executes one of processing of estimating the state of the lubricant on the image carriers on the basis of a first static friction force measured immediately after the start of the correction processing and a second static friction force measured after processing of removing the lubricant on the image carriers executed after the correction processing and supplying a lubricant onto the image carriers on the basis of the estimated state of the lubricant, and processing of removing the lubricant from the image carriers.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
