PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent as further as possible a paper sheet from being creased during embossing processing.SOLUTION: A paper sheet processing device comprises a first embossing roll and a second embossing roll. A plurality of first recesses are formed on a surface of the first embossing roll and the first embossing roll is rotatable in a first direction. A plurality of first projections that are formed to be meshed with the plurality of first recesses are formed on a surface of the second embossing roll and the second embossing roll is rotatable in a second direction that is reverse to the first direction. The first embossing roll includes second projections which apply tensile forces between apex parts of the first projections on a paper sheet that is inserted and pressure-welded between the first embossing roll and the second embossing roll. The second embossing roll includes second recesses that are formed to be meshed with the second projections.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
