<p>One flange of the cable drum has a toothed periphery (12), engaged by a pawl (13), which is attached (14) to a ring (15), through which the cable passes, at one end, and to a mechanical bistable rocker linkage (16, 17), at the other end. With fixed pin (17) in one stable position (a) in a slot (16), the pawl is engaged and there is no recoiling action (22). If the cable has to be recoiled, a further uncoiling pull is exerted. The ring (15) pulls the attachment (14) forwards and the rocker linkage moves to its second stable position (b) and the pawl is lifted. The cable can then recoil. To stop the process a further slight pull forwards on the cable moves the rocker back to its original position (a) and the pawl reengages.</p> |
