PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner ensuring pleasantness and reliability without need for a meter capable of shutting down load control at the time of power peak demand. SOLUTION: A two-stage scroll compressor 10 switchable between low capacity and high capacity is subjected to continuously repetitive operation between low capacity and high capacity through a thermostat 402 and a control module 190 by a load limit control signal 416 from a power supply company. The signal can be received through the Internet. The scroll compressor can be repetedly operated in the same way by a signal(s) of either or both of a sensor 188 sensing the temperature of liquid refrigerant in a refrigerant line and a sensor 188 sensing ambient temperature.
