PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding method and a friction stir welding device capable of enhancing the joining quality by suppressing formation of cavities. SOLUTION: When members 12 and 13 to be joined are welded, a welding tool 11 is rotated and revolved while the welding tool 11 is embossed in a work 14 to be joined. The axis L30 of revolution is displaced along a predetermined joining path 29 on the work 14. The work 14 is thus solid-state stirred.
