PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectrophotometer capable of acquiring excellent data for a long period. SOLUTION: This spectrophotometer for processing a signal from a photodetector as an alternating-current signal is equipped with a light source L, the photodetector 11, a photodetector driving part 12 for driving the photodetector, an optical system 19 for guiding light from the light source to a sample installation part and light transmitted through the sample or reflected thereby to the photodetector, a means for allowing light from the light source to enter the photodetector alternately as each light having a plurality of intensities, and a control part 15 for controlling operation of each part. A photoconductor is used for the photodetector 11, and a means 14 for measuring a resistance value of the photoconductor when light does not enter the photodetector 11 as a direct-current signal is provided.
