PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating system, a program, and an information storage medium, which reduce costs, use an input interface capable of accurately detecting operating conditions of a player, and enable image expressions using a wide variety of unprecedented operations. SOLUTION: A position on a screen 30, the variation of the position per unit time, an absolute value of the variation of the position and the direction of a sword-shaped controller 40 with respect to the screen 30 are determined according to input information from a detector for detecting a position in which the controller 40 crosses first and second sensor surfaces 52 and 62. In the sensor surfaces 52 and 62 which are formed of first and second sensors 50 and 60, respective positions are made to correspond to the respective positions on the screen 30 in a one-to-one manner. An effect of the controller 40 on an operator is changed by changing at least one of an effect image, an effect sound and a parameter for changing the effect image, in accordance with any one of the determined position on the screen 30, the determined variation of the position per unit time, the determined absolute value of the variation of the position and the determined direction of the controller 40. |
