Mixing and shearing roll mill for plasticatable materials having two temperature-controlled rolls running with different circumferential speeds. The very long roll faces are provided with sharp-edged grooves running in opposite directions obliquely to the axis of rotation which, by reliably drawing material into the nip and by a simultaneous axial transport movement, produce a biaxial shearing in the roll nip. The various materials to be mixed are charged simultaneously, or in the case of specific materials, sequentially along the roll nip and, depending on the required function, removed in a defined partly-plasticated or completely homogenised state for further processing.
