A FRP preform is produced by passing onto a filter of the finally required shape an aqueous suspension of the reinforcing fibres (glass in particular) plus powdered and/or fibrous thermoplastic material, draining off and drying the filtered material, heating and pressing under pressure. The material is preferably heated to a temp. at which the binder used will sinter and is then moulded at a lower temp. As the pressure required is low the moulds used can be cheap but still produce strong mouldings. Almost any size and shape can be produced. No laminar construction is needed at any point. The mouldings are free from stretched areas or consequent thinner parts.
