PURPOSE: To reduce power loss of a charging resistor of a capacitor for supplying a gate drive power to GTO in the initial stage of operation in the system for obtaining the gate drive power of a high-voltage, large-capacity converter from a main circuit voltage. CONSTITUTION: A switch 16 is connected in series between a capacitor 8 and a resistor 9. The power of an energy recovery circuit 13 which may be obtained by starting on-off operation of the self-extinguishing type semiconductor device 1 is utilized as the drive power of the switch 16 to open the contact 16S. Therefore, power loss of the resistor can be reduced. Moreover, insulation property can be alleviated by obtaining the control power source of the switch from the main circuit. |
