PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water injection type air compressor capable of monitoring trace components in the atmosphere easily and inexpensively in a place where the air compressor is installed and capable of continuously monitoring, and a method of monitoring the environment by using the air compressor. SOLUTION: The water injection type air compressor is for monitoring circulating water without stopping the flow. The water injection type air compressor comprises a water tank 8 holding water inside, an air/water separator 8a mounted inside the water tank, a check valve 8b mounted at the air outlet of the water tank for releasing the compressed air whose moisture is removed by the air/water separator, a compressor 10 for compressing air, a dehumidifier 15 for cooling the compressed air released from the water tank against the check valve at the saturation temperature or lower and condensing/separating moisture, a moisture collecting line 16 for feeding the moisture separated by the dehumidifier together with air directly to the air intake of the compressor, and a monitoring device 40 for monitoring water circulating between the water tank 8 and the compressor 10.
