PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing system that coordinates a mobile terminal and a stationary recording device so as to allow a viewer to continuously view/listen to video audio information independently of indoor or outdoor. SOLUTION: The information recording and reproducing system applies information compression processing to a received video signal/audio signal in compliance with the MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 and records the result to an HDD 7. When a user makes a copy instruction during reproduction of information recorded on the HDD 7, the information compressed in compliance with the MPEG 4 corresponding to part successive to the information that is reproduced is copied to a removable recording medium 9. The removable recording medium 9 can be loaded to a mobile terminal having a reproduction function of video/audio information, and the viewer can view/listen to the information recorded by the mobile terminal.
