Anchoring services of a mobile station attached to a first service domain at a home agent in a second service domain

A first node receives information associated with a mobile station to allow for establishment of a session for the mobile station that is attached to a first wireless access network in a first service domain. In response to the received information, the first node sends messaging to a home agent in a second service domain that is of a different type than the first service domain. The first node receives, from the home agent, an Internet Protocol (IP) address allocated to the mobile station in the second service domain, where the IP address is allocated in response to the messaging, and where services provided to the mobile station are anchored in the second service domain.

1. A method to enable a mobile station operating in a first service domain to access one or more services anchored in a second service domain, the method performed by a packet data network (PDN) gateway associated with the first service domain, the method comprising:
sending, to a home agent, messaging associated with a first serving gateway (SGW) included in the first service domain, wherein at least some of the messaging is associated with requesting allocation of an Internet Protocol (IP) address for the mobile station that is attached to a wireless access network of the first service domain, wherein the home agent is in the second service domain associated with a different wireless access network type than the first service domain, wherein the sending comprises sending at least one message of the messaging through a GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) tunnel; receiving, from the home agent, the Internet Protocol (IP) address allocated to the mobile station in the second service domain effective to enable a first proxy binding associated with the first SGW and the PDN gateway, wherein the IP address is allocated in response to the messaging, and wherein the first proxy binding is effective to enable anchoring services provided to the mobile station in the second service domain; sending, to the home agent, messaging associated with a second SGW included in the first service domain; and maintaining a second proxy binding with the second SGW, wherein the second proxy binding is based at least in part on using the same IP address assigned by the home agent to the mobile station.
