<p>1283232 Wood joints TRUS JOIST CORP 8 Aug 1969 [8 Aug 1968] 39759/69 Heading A4H [Also in Divisions B5 and E1] A method of making a structural wood product comprises applying glue to the major faces of a plurality of strips of wood 10, Fig. 1, of substantially uniform thickness throughout their lengths, stacking the strips flatwise in a plurality of adjacent stacks with their ends interleaved, and applying pressure to the opposite faces of the stacks to consolidate the interleaved portions 18, Fig. 2, to the thickness of the remaining portion 20 and to unite the glued faces together. In one embodiment, the wood product formed constitutes a chord of a structural truss. Grooves are formed in the interleaved portions of the chord which receive the ends of metal web members, the members being pinned to the chord. In another embodiment Fig. 5, a plurality of stacks of glued strips 42, 44, 46, 48, 50 and 52 are arranged with their ends interleaved on a platen 54 and are located by guide bars 58 so that after the application of pressure and heat the strips form an integral structural truss.</p> |
