The invention presents an apparatus for machining the surface of stones, for example paving setts, natural stones, floor slabs or concrete surfaces, in the case of which apparatus at least one beater and/or at least one flame-chipping head are arranged on a frame which projects to a comparatively great extent. Although it can also be used for smaller objects, such an apparatus is particularly suitable for machining large squares.
