PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polypeptide implicated in the expression of resistance to, particularly, glycopeptide in Gram-positive bacteria, to provide a nucleotide sequence encoding the above polypeptide, and to provide the use thereof in diagnoses. SOLUTION: The objective nucleotide probe or primer characterized by being constituted of a DNA or RNA and being hybridizable with the nucleotide sequence mentioned in the Claim 29 (See the specification) under severe conditions is also characterized by being specific to Gram-positive bacteria and encoding a protein resistant to the glycopeptide in the Gram-positive bacteria.
