Actuating device for cable

The device has two actuating branches (12) which are each held in contact with the cable (10) located between them over a predetermined range of travel and predetermined contact pressure. Each branch has a flexible drive belt (16) or chain guided around deflection rollers (14) and which, running parallel to the cable, is pressed against the cable by a pressure component (18) located between the deflection components. Elements are fitted to the belt of chain which form the contour of the guide groove. The pressure component has an energy storer in the form of a compression spring (28), which holds individual pressure rollers in tension with the drive band in the installation. A break reacts in the case of there being a difference between tacho speed and drive speed.
