PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a portable telephone set capable of speaking with an opposed telephone terminal without giving voice by the holding person of the portable telephone set by registering plural messages in advance, selecting a message assigned to a key and reading out the message to transmit it to the opposed telephone terminal. SOLUTION: A register editing mode is set with the prescribed key of an input part 16 to register message information coordinated with a prescribed registering number to a storing part 19 in a text format. Then, in the case of speaking without giving voice, the holding person of the portable telephone set sets a non-speaking mode and then depresses the registering number with ten keys. A CPU 18 receiving this retrieves the part 19 and reads the message of the corresponding registering number to supply it to a signal processing part 13. The part 13 voice-synthesizes the message of the text format and transmits it to a call originator from a transmission part 12 and an antenna part 11 through a base station. Thus, convenience is improved by communicating with the opposed terminal.
