AGING OF WAVELENGTH VARIABLE SEMICONDUCTOR LASER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for compensating a wavelength drift caused by aging. SOLUTION: One process evaluates the aging characteristics of a distribution Bragg reflector(DBR) laser. The process comprises a step in which a Bragg diffraction lattice of the distribution Bragg reflector(DBR) laser is irradiated with light while the DBR laser is supplied with a synchronization current with no laser radiation. The process also comprises a step where one operation is performed with the DBR laser according to the wavelength of Bragg peak at the part of light reflected on the Bragg diffraction lattice and also to the synchronization current value supplied during the irradiation.
