PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to readily know whether or not a paper sheet is surely cut and to deal with the trouble in a recorder having an automatic cutting device. SOLUTION: This recorder for continuous paper has a plurality of paper supply paths and comprises the automatic cutting device CT for automatically performing cutting of the paper supplied from one of the paper supply paths before switching the paper supply path. In addition, the recorder comprises a paper detection sensor 27 for detecting whether or not the continuous paper is cut by the automatic cutting device CT, a conveyance device for conveying the continuous paper to a detection position of the paper detection sensor 27 after the cutting operation, and a controller for judging whether or not the cutting of the continuous paper is actually carried out based on the output of the paper detection sensor 27.
