The subject of the invention is a housing for the helically threaded shaft serving for the yarn traversing, especially of a high-speed winding machine for filament yarns. For the purpose of easier accessibility in the event of a fault (the break of a yarn guide; the wear of the guide shuttle; the elimination of an undesired winding), the housing for the helically threaded shaft is divided in the longitudinal direction and has a parting line. The two housing halves are so connected to one another by means of centering pins and special pivoting joints that, after any opening of the traversing housing, a simple and exact assembly is obtained again. The locking of the housing halves is carried out by means of bayonet fastenings which are prestressed by cup springs.
